The TCAG website was first launched in December 2014 to provide information on the activities and projects of the Thurne Community Archive Group. It has fulfulfilled its primary function well. Since its launch, the use of smart phones and tablets to access websites has grown markedly to the extent that website design has to assume these devices are the most likely type to be used by a visitor to the website. This is termed a ‘responsive’ design in that the layout of any webpage is rendered in the optimum fashion for the device being used – this is fundamentally driven by the screen size. The general characteristic is that content ‘blocks’ are stacked vertically on a smart phone and horizontally on a PC.
The original (first generation) website had ‘responsive’ features but an upgrade was needed and this has been implemented during the recent ‘lockdown’.
