at the water’s edge

at the water’s edge is the story of Thurne from the earliest known references to the present day.  This booklet has many unique images and extracts from documents held by Thurne Community Archive Group.

No electricity and with no mains water Mac Parker relied on the well.  If you’d lived here and wanted to go upstairs, you had to come out of the door on the right and in through the door on the left!  The cottage was demolished in 1968-9 and stood where Dingle Dell is now.

This booklet is currently out of print.  Revision is scheduled for Autumn 2021/ Winter 2022. This page will be updated with details on how to purchase a copy in due course.
